Unfortunately, I will never get through all her work. It makes some sense of the confusion, reins in the terrifying thoughts and feelings, returns resfield control and hope and possibility of learning from it all. The wild impulsive chaotic, energetic, and crazy one? But she paints a cohesive picture of what it’s like to live as a never-ending captive to these see-sawing feelings.

It will never end, for madness carves its own reality. Her book Manic-Depressive Illnessfirst published in and co-authored with psychiatrist Frederick K. This book is labeled a memoir, and reefield writing style and content certainly fit the label.

There are better books out there. Inspired by Your Browsing History. Order by newest oldest recommendations. As previously mentioned, I expected just that from this book based on its presentation to me.

Jamison once attempted suicide by overdosing on lithium during a severe depressive episode. Jamison glorifies and romanticizes her disorder, calling it madness and relating her mania to flying around Saturn and dancing in the rain. As an example, she cites Lord Byron and his relatives.

But, somewhere this changes. I guess I like what this book tries to do, but I’m not convinced it was well done.
